The Macedonian Stock Exchange was founded in Skopje in 1995, and switched from floor-based trading to electronic trading using the BEST system in 2001.

The exchange has shown steady growth within its relatively short lifespan and now lists more than 100 companies. Macedonian government bonds are also traded on the exchange.

The MBI10 index, which is based on 10 key listed stocks, is the primary index of the Macedonia Stock Exchange.
