Standard rates, as used in the telecom industry, are rates used to calculate fees charged for services, without accounting for optional add-ons or included allowances.

Standard rates may apply to local calls, international calls, roaming, data use, data roaming, SMS messages to local or foreign numbers, and other services.

Example: Many Swiss service providers have very high standard rates for roaming in some countries. The cost of roaming can be significantly reduced by using optional roaming options with lower, non-standard rates.
