In Switzerland, the designation stock exchange bank is given to banks which specialize in securities brokerage and asset management. More than 40 stock exchange banks operate in Switzerland.

The primary role of these banks is to facilitate investment in securities by private individuals and entities. Revenues are earned through brokerage fees and investment in loans provided to securities traders in the form of leverage.
