Value of Construction Put in Place Survey (VIP)

The construction spending report published by the United States Census Bureau tracks the estimated total U.S. dollar value of construction carried out in the United States. It is an important indicator of the value of companies which service the U.S. construction sector.

Published on a monthly basis, the index lists private residential and non-residential construction spending, public state and municipal construction spending, and public federal construction spending. Figures are shown in the millions of U.S. dollars.

High monthly figures generally indicate growth for investments in the U.S. construction sector. Low monthly figures indicate lower returns on investments in the U.S. construction sector.
