Vesting

The term “vesting” is used to describe the act of granting a secured right. In finance, the term is most commonly used in reference to employers providing guaranteed retirement benefits to employees providing certain conditions are met. Retirement benefits which have been guaranteed by law or by a contract are known as vested benefits.
