The term download denotes the transfer of data from one digital device to another via a data network upon request by the recipient device. Currently, the term is most widely used to refer to transfers of data from Internet servers to end user devices via an Internet connection.

Popularly, the term is also used to denote data files which have been “downloaded,” or transferred from an Internet server to an end user device.

The speed with which data can be downloaded depends on the data transfer rate of the data connection. The higher the download data transfer rate of your Internet connection, the faster you will be able to download data.
