While pulling out of a parking lot some spaced out cyclist slammed into my car. I realise I was crossing a bicycle lane to get out of the parking, but I was already nearly across the cycle lane when the numbwit came speeding round the curve. Funny thing is, both of us feel that the other is liable for the damage. He got a bent front wheel and smashed light and my car has a nasty dent and scratches. Who needs to pay?

Hi there,

Because the cyclist had the right of way, you are liable to cover the damages. Damage to the bicycle should be covered by your compulsory liability car insurance. If you have collision car insurance, this should cover the cost of having your car repaired.
