In Switzerland, leasing is not as commonly used for financing business vehicles as it is in some other countries (like Germany).
Whether or not leasing a vehicle is a good financial move for your business depends on several factors. Does your business need a single vehicle or an entire fleet of vehicles? How will the vehicles be used? How are leasing fees calculated? Do you need a straight lease, or a lease which includes additional services? What are the terms and conditions of the lease agreement?
Accounting considerations may also apply. Leasing can make sense if investing a large portion of your capital at one time would leave your business short of capital for other purposes and result in poor financial liquidity.
Tax considerations are another point to look at. Depending on the type of lease used, lease payments may be tax deductible.
Consulting a law firm which specializes in lease agreements before making your decision can be a good move, particularly if your business needs a fleet of vehicles.
If you do settle on leasing, make sure to request unbinding quotes from multiple leasing companies and compare the offers.
