A few friends and myself would like to open a club and register it as a legal association. One question we have is about taxes. Do associations have any tax obligations in Switzerland?

Hi there,

Tax laws vary between cantons and municipalities, but typically associations are required to submit tax returns and pay tax on taxable income and assets unless they receive a special tax-free designation. The tax-free designation must be applied for and normally only applies to non-profit associations which serve a charitable or cultural purpose.
