Does car insurance cover damages caused by fire? My cars sit in a wood frame garage with obvious fire potential. If the garage caught fire and my cars were damaged, would my car insurance cover damages?
Hi there,
The compulsory liability car insurance which you are required to get does not cover damages to your car (by fire, for example). You can insure your cars against fire by taking out comprehensive car insurance. In Switzerland this coverage is usually bundled with collision car insurance in a fully-comprehensive car insurance policy.
