Hi there,

Holding more than one compulsory health insurance policy is not technically possible.

Your new insurance provider is required to inform your existing insurance provider about your new policy. If they fail to do this by the end of the year, your new policy will only take effect on February 1. You must remain insured by your existing policy throughout January, but your new insurance provider must make up possible differences between the (lower) premium you would have paid for January with your new policy and the premium you pay for your existing policy during that month.

If you fail to give notice to your previous health insurance provider by the November 30 deadline, then you will remain insured by your existing insurance policy during the new year.

In either case, you will not have to pay for two compulsory health insurance policies and you will not receive compulsory insurance coverage from more than one insurer.
