Hello,

Is there a way I can get a life insurance policies which provides a life annuity using the Swiss pillar 3a retirement saving category? If so, do 3a life annuity premiums benefit from the same tax-deductible status as deposits into a 3a retirement savings account?

Thanks

Hi there,

Life annuities based on 3a retirement savings are available from Swiss insurance providers and provide an interesting alternative for people who prefer a lifelong pension over a lump-sum payout.

Premiums paid for life annuity insurance are fully tax-deductible. On the other hand, the income you receive from your life annuity wheny you reach the specified age must be taxed as regular income.

Because there are strict rules governing the 3a category of retirement savings, 3a life annuity policies must mature when you reach legal retirement age. If you continue working past legal retirement age, you can delay the matururation of your 3a annuity until you turn 69 (women) or 70 (men).

Best regards from Moneyguru
