Greetings,

Short-term loans such as payday loans are not as widely used in Switzerland as it is in some other countries.

On average, most personal loans issued in Switzerland have long terms - typically several years. However, getting loans with shorter terms is recommended because the cost of loans increases significantly when you choose a longer term. You can use the loan calculator to compare the costs of short-term and long-term loans.

The shortest terms available from major Swiss personal loans providers are generally 6 months or 12 months. A handful of lenders offer loans with terms as short as 1 month. You can enter the loan term you want in the personal loan comparison to find out which loans are available for that loan term.

Loans with terms shorter than 3 months are not regulated by Swiss consumer credit laws. A number of online lenders offer short-term and express loans. We recommend that you exercise caution when using these online lenders because many of them are not registered in Switzerland or legally regulated. Because they are not regulated by Swiss consumer credit laws, many irreputable online lenders charge outrageous interest rates or include special clauses in their terms and conditions which allow them to compound interest rates frequently or otherwise overcharge for loans.

Sticking to registered Swiss lenders provides protection against abuse. These are listed in the moneyland.ch personal loans comparison.

Best regards from Moneyguru
