Good day,

Can you recommend a soild insurance for the contents of my safe deposit box? Which Swiss insurance company offers the cheapest insurance for safe deposit boxes?

My household insurance at Zurich insurance does not cover this.

Thank you very much

Greetings,

Swiss household insurance policies provide relatively low coverage for cash (typically CHF 5000) and jewelry (typically CHF 20,000). Coverage for "simple theft away from home" (if included) is usually lower than coverage for items kept at home.

Taking out separate valuables insurance or adding it as a rider on your household insurance policy is advisable if you store valuables which are worth more than your regular household insurance covers. You may want to extend the cash coverage provided by your household insurance policy to match the amount of cash you hold.

It is worth noting that a number of non-bank providers of safe deposit box storage solutions include a certain amount of insurance coverage in the cost of box rental. However, rents are typically higher than those of bank safe deposit boxes.

Best regards from Moneyguru
