We bought our first home in Switzerland in 2017 and did a lot of rennovations, etc. We are interested in knowing which costs associated with owning, repairing and maintaining a house can be deducted from our taxable income.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Hi there,

moneyland.ch is not a tax advisory service. As a new homeowner, you should consider consulting with a qualified tax advisor because tax laws in Switzerland vary between cantons and municipalities.Typically, these costs can be deducted:

1. Property management costs
2. Liability insurance premiums
3. Glass insurance premiums
4. Water-damage insurance premiums
5. Fire insurance premiums
6. Garden maintenance costs
7. Building renovation costs (when renovation does not increase the property's value).
8. Costs of replacing stationary appliances (heating system, laundry appliances)

Best regards from Moneyguru
