I wasn't able to pay my car insurance premium last month. Am I still insured for a time? Do I get a grace period for paying premiums?

Hi there,

In the case of liability car insurance, insurance companies are obligated to continue to insure your car for as long as it is able to drive on public roads - even if you failed to pay your premiums. However, insurers can inform the police about your failed premium payments and have them confiscate your license plates to keep you from using public roads.

All other types of car insurance are put on hold when you fail to pay premiums after receiving a payment reminder. You should receive a reminder within 14 days of failing to pay your premium.

Best regards from Moneyguru
