Founded in 1992, the Malta Stock Echange is a relatively young stock exchange. It counts more than 15 participating member firms and more than 40 listed companies. The exchange operates electronically using the Xetra system developed by the Deutsche Börse AG (Frankfurt Stock Exchange). The exchange caters primarily to trading in shares and hosts its own central securities depository.

The MALTEX index tracks exchange performance.

Trading hours: Monday through Friday 9:32 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. CET (UTC+1)
Settlement cycle: T+2
