Nomadic Landline

In Switzerland, the practice of using an SIP to make calls from and receive calls to a landline phone number while traveling is referred to as nomadic phone use or simply nomadic use.

Customers of telecom service providers which make SIP login information available can take advantage of nomadic phone use to make and receive phone calls from anywhere in the world using their landline phone number, provided they have access to the Internet. Nomadic calls can be made from or received on many different devices, including smartphones and laptops, IP phones or via SIP routers.

Since the year 2021, Swiss telecom service providers have been legally obligated to provide SIP login information.
