Digital Republic has launched a new mobile plan and also raised the Internet connection speeds for its existing plans. Digital Republic is a Swiss mobile service provider that is currently owned by Mobilezone.
Local calls and data for 13 francs per month
As from now, the new mobile plan called Flat Mobile Swiss is available on Digital Republic’s website. The mobile plan’s monthly fee covers unlimited mobile Internet use in Switzerland, and unlimited phone calls and SMS messages within Switzerland. The plan costs 13 francs per month, when you choose monthly billing without a minimum contract term. You can terminate the plan at any time without penalties. Digital Republic also does not charge any one-time fees for the SIM or activation.
Alternatively, you can also choose to get an annual subscription, in which case the yearly fee is 143 francs. That converts into 11.92 francs per month.
The Internet connection you get with the new Flat Mobile Swiss plan is limited to 30 Mbps for downloads and 15 Mbps for uploads. Those speeds are generally adequate for the average phone user. However, they can be insufficient if you stream videos in 4K. One limitation is that the SIM card cannot be used with Internet routers. However, you can still share your mobile connection using your phone as a mobile hotspot.
Changes to existing mobile plans
Alongside the launch of its new mobile plan, Digital Republic is also making changes to its existing Flat Mobile plan. That plan will now include 5G Internet with the maximum available speed. Theoretically, users should now be able to connect with speeds of up to 200 Mbps. In practice though, speeds exceeding 100 Mbps are unlikely. But it is worth noting that there are few situations in which such high connection speeds are necessary.
How does the new plan compare to competing offers?
Digital Republic’s new mobile plan is very affordable compare to offers from other service providers. Based on standard rates without accounting for special promotions, it is currently the cheapest mobile plan with unlimited local calls and data within Switzerland..

Conclusion by moneyland.ch telecom expert Ralf Beyeler
A flat fee of 13 francs per month for unlimited local calls and data in Switzerland is very affordable. Currently, the new plan from Digital Republic is the cheapest Swiss mobile plan that gives you unlimited calls and data within Switzerland for a flat fee. The absence of one-time fees for the SIM and for activation are additional benefits.
But there are phone users for whom this mobile plan is not the best match. If you make a lot of international calls from Switzerland to other countries, or if you frequently make calls while roaming in foreign countries, then there are other mobile plans available that will work out cheaper. Other solutions could also work out cheaper if you use mobile data while roaming outside of Switzerland.
At a time when many mobile service providers like Sunrise, Salt, Yallo, and Lebara are raising their mobile plan fees, it is surprising to see other service providers driving prices down. What is more, these low-cost service providers use the mobile networks operated by the established telecom companies.
