My credit card has two benefits which seem very similar. One is "return protection" and the other is "extended warranty". What is the difference between these? Do both of them let me return stuff that breaks?

Hi there,

Return protection (also called "guaranteed returns" or "return insurance" lets you return an item in new condition shortly after purchase to you credit card issuer's patner insurance provider if the merchant from which you made the purchase refuses a return. You can find out more about return protection here.

The extended warranty benefit you get with some credit cards is a type of insurance which covers your purchases for a time after the manufacturer's warranty expires. If an item purchased using an eligible credit card breaks down, you can send it in to your credit card issuer's partner insurance provider for repair. You can find out more about extended warranties here.

You can filter and sort credit cards based on insurance benefits using the moneyland.ch credit card comparison.
