Dear ladies and gentlemen,

Because I do a lot of contract work in Switzerland I am considering opening a Swiss business bank account.

I have a couple of questions:
Can a foreign business open a Swiss bank account?
What does an account like this cost?
How much would the maintenance costs be for a German business?
What do money transfers between Germany and Switzerland cost?
How much money am I required to hold in the account?

With kind regards

Hi there,

Swiss banks normally only open business accounts for businesses which are domiciled in Switzerland. But exceptions are made. A good first step would be to contact several Swiss banks and explain your situation. You can find business accounts listed in the unbiased moneyland.ch business account comparison.

If a Swiss bank agrees to take you on as a customer, make sure to pay attention to possible non-resident customer fees which may apply in addition to standard fees. Also pay attention to the cost of transfers. Transfers between Switzerland and Euro-zone countries can be affordable if they are made using SEPA.

Best regards from Moneyguru
