LTE (4G)

LTE is the abbreviated form of long-term evolution. The term refers to a fourth-generation standard for radio-based communications. It is more widely referred to simply as 4G.

Theoretically, LTE connections are capable of transferring data at speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.

LTE networks have been available to mobile device users in Switzerland since 2012. All three Swiss mobile network operators (Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt) maintain LTE networks. Swiss mobile service providers generally offer data transfer speeds of up to 450 Mbps (LTE Advanced). However, LTE beacons with data transfer speeds as high as 1 Gbps are available in some parts of the country.

Note: The interactive mobile plan and prepaid offer comparison on moneyland.ch lets you filter offers based on whether they provide 4G connectivity.
