Acceptance not guaranteed. Health check by Swica beforehand. Swica offsets co-payments from the basic insurance against those from the supplemental (hospital) insurance. Only possible in combination with basic insurance.

Full cover in the private ward of all hospitals in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Notice period:

The insurer can terminate the contract at the latest 3 months before the end of the contract or calendar year.

Premiums and discounts:

Rates based on the age when the insured person joined Swica. Rates don't change afterwards. In case of co-payments discounts between 15 and 50 percent and for early payment. The premiums for 2026 are shown here.
The insured person can choose between the "Lifetime" tariff model and the "Closing age" tariff model.

Spa and convalescent therapy:

For medical reasons and prescribed by a doctor in a recognized spa: convalescent or spa cures up to CHF 100 per day (maximum 30 days per calendar year in each case).

Maternity:

Full cover in the private ward of all hospitals in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Additional costs for the newborn during the mother's confinement, the same as the mothers' cover.
Additional bed for the child (up to the age of 6) or additional bed for the mother: CHF 50 per night, for a maximum of 30 days per calendar year.
Waiting period: 360 days.

Rooming in:

No coverage.

Home help:

CHF 40 per day (maximum 60 days per calendar year).

Home care:

CHF 80 per day (for a maximum of 720 within 900 consecutive days).

Emergency transport costs:

Switzerland and abroad: 90 percent, no limit amount.

Search and rescue costs:

Switzerland and abroad: 90 percent, together with repatriation up to CHF 30,000 per event.

Repatriation:

90 percent, together with search and rescue up to CHF 30,000 per event.

Hospital abroad:

Elective treatment: Up to CHF 150 per day for boarding, up to CHF 30,000 per calendar year for treatment costs.

Rehabilitation stationary:

For stays in rehabilitation and psychiatric clinics: full cover for up to 180 days, then CHF 150 per day (for a maximum of 720 within 900 consecutive days).

Psychiatry:

For stays in rehabilitation and psychiatric clinics: full cover for up to 180 days, then CHF 150 per day (for a maximum of 720 within 900 consecutive days).
