Switzerland’s residents are generally satisfied with their car insurance in spite of this year’s price hikes. That is the conclusion of a representative survey by moneyland.ch in which 1500 participants from German- and French-speaking regions rated their satisfaction on a scale of 1 (not at all satisfied) to 10 (completely satisfied).
The average car insurance customer satisfaction rating across all survey participants is 7.5. points, which translates into a “good” rating.
Young adults are less satisfied
Customer satisfaction varies between demographics. Young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 years old rate their car insurance providers much less positively than other residents. The average customer satisfaction rating across young adults is just 6.8 points, which is low, but still enough for a “good” rating. Adults between 50 and 74 years old rated their car insurance providers with 8.0 points, on average, which translates into a “very good” rating. The average rating from participants between 26 and 49 years old is 7.3 points (a “good” rating).
“The low satisfaction among young adults may well be linked to the fact that young drivers often pay higher insurance premiums,” clarifies moneyland.ch editor and insurance expert Daniel Dreier. “Young drivers are also statistically more likely to be involved in accidents – and subsequently to make use of their car insurance – than drivers in the other age groups are.”
Differences between linguistic regions and genders
The survey results show that residents of the Romandy are more satisfied with their car insurance providers than residents of German-speaking regions. The average customer satisfaction rating across participants in the Romandy is 7.6 points, compared to a lower 7.4 points in German-speaking areas.
Gender-based differences are moderate, though women are somewhat more satisfied than men. While the average customer satisfaction rating among women is 7.5 points, men are slightly more critical with an average rating of 7.4 points.

Methodology
The 2025 car insurance customer satisfaction study is based on a representative online survey carried out by market research institute Ipsos as commissioned by moneyland.ch. The survey, which was conducted in the spring of 2025, included 1500 participants between the ages of 18 and 74 residing in both French-speaking and German-speaking regions. Participants rated their satisfaction with different aspects of the services provided by their car insurance providers.
The criteria rated by car insurance customers were: The friendliness of employees, consultation, customer service, mobile apps, insurance premiums and other costs, value-for-money, and general satisfaction.
In addition to car insurance, the survey also included personal liability insurance, household insurance, and travel insurance.
The 1500 participants rated their satisfaction with their current insurance providers on a scale of 1 (not at all satisfied) to 10 (completely satisfied). Participants also had the option of abstaining from rating individual criteria. moneyland.ch used the scale below to convert points into ratings.
- Between 5 and 6 points: Sufficient
- Between 6 and 6.5 points: Satisfactory
- Between 6.5 and 8 points: Good
- Between 8 and 9 points: Very good
- Between 9 and 10 points: Excellent
