TCS Legal Protection

Worldwide coverage. 

Private legal protection: In Switzerland, in Europe, in the Principality of Liechtenstein and in the United Kingdom up to CHF 750,000, worldwide up to CHF 200,000 (Standard variant). For private legal protection, there is also a Plus variant with higher coverages and more expensive premiums.

Traffic legal protection: In Switzerland, in Europe and in the Principality of Liechtenstein up to CHF 1 million, worldwide up to CHF 100,000 (Standard variant). For traffic legal protection, there is also a Plus variant with higher coverages and more expensive premiums.

The legal protection insurance is provided by Assista Legal Protection AG. 

Private individuals are insured. Within the scope of individual insurance: the policyholder.

Within the scope of household insurance for private legal protection: the policyholder and the following persons living in the same household: spouse or partner and their children under the age of 26. In addition: children under the age of 26 who live away from home, have their registered address at the place of residence of their insured parents or one of their parents, and are still in education.

Within the scope of household insurance for traffic legal protection: the policyholder and the family members living in the same household (children up to 25 years).

Premiums include stamp duty of 5%. There is a discount of 17.55% (private legal protection) or 11.55% (traffic legal protection) for TCS members.

Choice of legal representation: the insurance company has the right to reject a lawyer proposed by the insured person. The insured person may then propose three lawyers from different law firms in the relevant jurisdiction, from which the insurance company can select the lawyer to be appointed.

Policyholder: Cancellation is possible up to 1 day before the annual due date.

Minimum contract duration: 1 year. If the contract is not terminated by the day of the annual due date, the contract is renewed annually.

The insurance coverage will be granted if the legal case arose after a waiting period of 2 months after the commencement of the insurance.
The waiting periods do not apply if there is prior insurance for the same risk and seamless insurance cover.
The waiting periods also apply if new risks and/or new benefits or new insured persons are included.

In private legal protection: No minimum amount in dispute.
In traffic legal protection: Minimum amount in dispute for external services of 2000 Swiss francs. In the case of legal matters in which the other party is represented by a lawyer, no minimum amount in dispute applies.

Advice in the area of personal, family, school (including daycare center) and inheritance law as well as child and adult protection up to a maximum of CHF 500 per case (if an external lawyer must be consulted, maximum 1 case). Coverage limited to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. 

Costs for translations and mediation will be covered with Assista’s consent or by court order.
