The 2025 Swiss credit card customer satisfaction survey of 1500 residents of French- and German-speaking Switzerland between the ages of 18 and 74 shows that customer satisfaction is generally high. But card users are dissatisfied with reward programs.
Overall, Swiss credit card users are satisfied with their cards. The average customer satisfaction rating across all criteria is 8.1 out of 10 points. That translates into a “very good” score. Is there an explanation for that high customer satisfaction? Benjamin Manz, managing director of moneyland.ch, believes that the high customer satisfaction ratings could well have to do with the fact that problems with credit card payments occur relatively infrequently.
But customer satisfaction ratings vary between individual criteria. The average rating for credit card mobile apps is 8 out of 10 points (“very good”). It is followed by the friendliness of employees, helpfulness when problems occur, and clarity of documents, all of which have average ratings of 7.9 out of 10 points (“good”). Next in line is value-for-money, with a surprisingly-high 7.8 points. By comparison, mandatory health insurance receive a much lower rating for this criterion. “The good value-for-money ratings may have to do with the fact that many card users are not aware of the hidden fees charged by card issuers,” observes Manz. Unfavorable exchange rates for transactions in foreign currencies are one example of a hidden fee.
Customers are least satisfied with reward programs and cardholder benefits, with the average rating for this criterion being just 7.3 points.
Age-based differences
Gender does not play a significant role in determining satisfaction with credit cards. Differences between the Romandy and German-speaking Switzerland are also small.
Age, on the other hand, does make a difference. The older a customer is, the more likely they are to be satisfied with their credit card. Adults between the ages of 50 and 74 years old are generally satisfied, with the average rating for this age group being 8.3 out of 10 points. That is higher than the average ratings from residents between the ages of 26 and 49 years old (7.9 points), and those between the ages of 18 and 25 years old (7.8 out of 10 points).
These Swiss credit cards have the highest customer satisfaction ratings
The highest-rated conventional credit cards in this year’s survey are the Certo credit card from Cembra Money Bank, the Cumulus credit card from Migros Bank, and the prepaid cards from Swiss Bankers. All of these have average ratings of 8.3 out of 10 points (“very good”).
Next in line are the credit cards from Cornèrcard, Migros Bank, and cantonal banks (Viseca), each with 8.2 out of 10 points (“very good”). With 8.1 points each, the Cashback credit cards from Swisscard, credit cards from Postfinance, and credit cards from UBS also received “very good” ratings. The credit cards from Clientis, Viseca, and Raiffeisen all received an average rating of 8 points.
