Swisscom Hikes Plan Prices by up to 6.4 Percent

January 27, 2026 - Ralf Beyeler

From April 2026, customers of Swiss telecom market leader Swisscom will have to pay more for their subscriptions. Telecom expert Ralf Beyeler from moneyland.ch explains the price increases and looks at ways to save.

From April 1, 2026, customers of Switzerland’s biggest telecom service provider Swisscom will have to reach deeper into their pockets to pay their phone bills. Depending on which Swisscom plan you have, you can expect to pay up to 1.90 francs more per month. That translates into a price increase of 6.4 percent.

Overview of price increases

Swisscom mobile plans and home Internet plans will cost 1.90 francs more per month from April. TV plans and landline telephone plans will cost 90 centimes more per month.

The overview below shows the price increases for different Swisscom plans, as a percentage:

The price hikes affect both new and existing customers. Mobile data plans, prepaid services, and certain niche products will not be affected by the price increases. Swisscom will inform customers about the changes by email or with their invoices in the course of the coming days.

Will Coop Mobile, Migros Mobile, and Wingo also raise their prices?

The price increases on April 1 only apply to plans from Swisscom itself, as confirmed by Swisscom upon request by moneyland.ch. Customers of Coop Mobile, Migros Mobile, and Wingo will not be affected by this price hike.

Can customers terminate their plans free of charge?

The price increase offers customers a good opportunity to terminate their plans without paying penalty fees. If you are not willing to accept the price increase, you can give notice to terminate your subscription without penalty fees. Our notice needs to be submitted to Swisscom on time. moneyland.ch offers a mobile plan comparison.

Swisscom blames the price hikes on sinking revenues

Swisscom cites a decline in overall revenues and decreasing per-customer revenues as the reasons for the price increase. The company says that it is unable to compensate for the decline in revenue through cost reductions and improved efficiency alone. But Swisscom also stresses that customers get much more for their money today, compared to just a few years ago.

How expensive is Swisscom compared to competitors?

Swisscom’s services are already massively more expensive than many competing offers. With the upcoming price increase, Swisscom will become even more expensive.

Comparing Swisscom’s pricing with competing offers helps highlight the differences. The comparison is based on standard prices, without accounting for special promotional offers and discounts.

  • A number of Swiss carriers offer a mobile plan with unlimited local calls and data within Switzerland for a flat fee of less than 20 francs. Swisscom’s new price for a comparable plan will be 71.80 francs per month.
  • Even mobile plans with included roaming allowances (20 GB) for European countries are available from some Swiss carriers for around 20 francs per month. Swiscom’s new price for a plan with unlimited calls and data in Switzerland and data roaming allowances (40 GB) for Europe is 81.80 francs per month.
  • Home Internet plans with a bandwidth suitable for most households are available for less than 30 francs per month. Swisscom charges 66.80 francs per month for a comparable plan.
  • High-speed home Internet plans are available from around 35 francs per month. Swisscom’s new price for a comparable plan is 81.80 francs per month.

Other Swiss carriers are also hiking their prices

In recent years, price hikes at Swisscom have been limited to a handful of changes to specific plans for private individuals. The last major price change, in 2024, was Swisscom’s move to begin charging for Bluewin email addresses, which had previously been free of charge. Swisscom has also moved customers with affordable legacy plans to more expensive current plans.

Price hikes have been much more common among Swisscom’s competitors, with numerous price increases at Salt and Sunrise, as well as Lebara and Yallo. Swisscom’s subsidiary Wingo stopped offering an exceptionally-affordable mobile plan to new customers.

Conclusion by telecom expert Ralf Beyeler

Every price hike presents customers with an opportunity to check whether moving to a different service provider could make sense. This is especially true for longtime customers who have been using the same subscription for many years, as there is a good chance that offers with better value have become available in the meantime. As long as most customers simply accept price increases without terminating their contracts, service providers will continue to raise prices.

I find it surprising that Swisscom cited technological developments, rather than inflation, as the reason for its price hikes. For decades now, technological developments have resulted in devices and networks becoming increasingly faster and more powerful. For service providers like Swisscom, these developments do not bring higher costs. Instead, they bring cost reductions over the long term.

In my view, the decline in per-customer revenue is a clear sign that consumers are increasingly migrating to more affordable carriers. In other words, the willingness to pay a premium for plans from Swisscom’s primary brand is on the decline.
