Migros Mobile: Price Hikes for Mobile and Internet Plans

July 29, 2026 - Ralf Beyeler

From September, Migros Mobile customers will pay more for their mobile plans and home Internet plans. The change affects customers who signed up for their plans before the rebranding from M-Budget Mobile. Telecom expert Ralf Beyeler examines the changes, and tells you how to avoid paying more.

Numerous Migros Mobile customers will have to pay more for their mobile and home Internet plans from September 1, 2026. The price increase will be between 50 centimes and one franc per month.

The price hike affects customers who subscribed to their plans with Migros Mobile’s predecessor, M-Budget Mobile. Migros Mobile is informing affected customers about the price increase by mail.

Migros Mobile is a subsidiary of Swisscom. The telecom company works with the Migros retail group to market the carrier.

An overview of price increases for mobile plans

The basic monthly fee for the Mini, Maxi, Mega, Extra, and Giga mobile plans will go up by one franc per month. That is an increase of up to 5.3 percent.

For plans that were subscribed to at special promotional prices, the price increase will be between 50 centimes and one franc per month.

Monthly fees for the new Swiss Start, Swiss Classic, Swiss Max, and Swiss Travel mobile plans will remain unchanged.

Overview of price increases for home Internet plans

The fees for the home broadband plans Internet Classic and Internet Pro are going up by one franc per month. That is a price increase of 2.5 percent.

The price hikes for plans sold at special promotional prices are between 50 centimes and one franc per month.

The fees for the new Internet Start, Internet Plus, and Internet Max plans introduced at the end of August 2025 will remain as they are.

Affected customers can terminate their plans without penalties

Migros Mobile posted information about the right to irregular termination on its website. If the price changes affect your subscription, you can terminate the contract without any penalties on August 31, 2026, regardless of the contractual notice period and the minimum contract term.

The right to terminate early gives customers the chance to move to a different carrier on August 31, and keep their phone number.

How does Migros Mobile justify the price hikes?

Migros Mobile justifies its price increases by stating that the fees charged for older plans no longer match the current market conditions. Additionally, the costs of the telecom network, technical systems, and service provision have gone up.

The fees for plans released under the Migros Mobile brand will not go up. Fees for these plans were already calculated based on current expenses.

Is it worth changing to the new Migros Mobile plans?

Migros Mobile stresses that customers can change to a current Migros Mobile plan at any time free of charge. The Migros Mobile plans are not becoming more expensive at this time.

If you signed up for your M-Budget Mobile plan with a big discount off the standard price, then the current Migros Mobile plans will likely cost more. Customers who have family discounts should be aware that earlier family discounts were often more attractive than the current family discounts.

If the price increases are not reason enough for you to move to a different carrier, you should at least compare the current offers to your existing plans. In some cases, moving to a new Migros Mobile plan can be cheaper than keeping your existing plan.

How do Migros Mobile prices compare with competing offers?

Plans from Migros Mobile sit in the mid-field in terms of pricing. Many carriers, including M-Tel, Digital Republic, CH Mobile, Gomo, Galaxus Mobile, Spusu, and Swype, are much cheaper than Migros Mobile. On the other hand, the standard prices of many carriers, including Swisscom, Sunrise, and Salt, are much higher than those of Migros Mobile.

One example: The cheapest Migros Mobile plan with unlimited calls and data within Switzerland costs 25.95 francs. The cheapest comparable offer from other carriers cost around 13 francs – half as much.

Conclusion by telecom expert Ralf Beyeler

After the price hikes from Swisscom and its subsidiary Wingo, the price increases from Migros Mobile hardly come as a surprise.

It is interesting that the price adjustments from Migros Mobile only apply to older plans. That is not at all typical for price hikes from telecom service providers.

A positive point is that Migros Mobile is not forcing customers to migrate to its new plans. That sets it apart from Swisscom subsidiary Wingo.

It is up to customers to decide how they respond. Unfortunately, many customers do not react to price increases. If consumers were more ready to change service providers, we would see much fewer price increases.
